Storms

As a child, I was very afraid of storms. I was the “window watcher.” Running from room to room checking the cloud activity! I don’t know why I didn’t become a meteorologist! These storms almost made me physically sick. I was so consumed with them I couldn’t do anything else.

In life we have storms. Sometimes they swoop down on us without notice and other times we see them looming in the distance. Quite often they paralyze us and fear sets in.

The disciples were out on a boat with Jesus one day when a storm blew in. (Matthew 8) Jesus had fallen asleep. Of course, the disciples fell apart. Just like we do a lot of the time. They couldn’t believe that he was sleeping. He said to them, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”

I know I would have been the same way. Where is my faith in the storms of life? Jesus is telling us that He is there in the midst of it!! Do not be afraid. Sometimes the storms don’t go away quickly but He is there with you! Trust in Him to bring you through to the other side.
