Sometimes the smallest moment can remain with us for a lifetime. I will never forget one day sitting by my grandmother when I was young. She was holding my hand and just touching and looking at it. She said, “Your hands are so smooth and you don’t have marks like my old wrinkly hands.” Why I remember that I don’t know. But, I do remember the precious moment of being next to me and holding my hand so tenderly.
It all came flooding back to me this morning as I was getting ready for church. I looked at my own “old wrinkly hands” and thought I needed to put lotion on them. After doing that I changed my memory verse card that was sitting right beside the lotion and today it read, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;”
I thought to myself, “He doesn’t care what my hands look like but he’s holding on to them. He has my name on the palms of his hands.” Wow!!!! I love word pictures and immediately I could see the creator of the universe looking at the palms of his hands and thinking of me.
If you are in a place where you think you are forgotten or no one cares, remember Isaiah 49:16. Look at your palms and remember your name is there.
