Hunger and Thirst

In Psalm 63, David paints a vivid word picture of how he longs for God. “…earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is not water.”

Many of us have not experienced what it’s like to be in a desert over an extended time. We may have been dehydrated because of the temperature, sickness, or just forgetting to drink. But, the idea of being without water and none in the horizon is terrifying.

David, in this Psalm, is desperate for God just like we would be if we were without water. His whole being longs to be in his presence. Have you been in a situation in life where your whole body longs for God? Are you desperate for him? Do you want to be in his presence?

Deuteronomy 4:29 tells us that if we seek him, we will find him if we look with all our heart and with all our soul. Do you spend time alone with him? Do you read his word? Do you pray to find him?  If not, start right now. Seek him with all your heart and you will be filled.
