Our Five Minute Friday prompt was Ignore.
I have a lump on my breast! My left arm is numb. I feel weak and tired all the time! I can’t remember anything! Was that a stop sign???
There are certain things we can’t ignore! We can. But what about the consequences?
We see the signs but we choose to ignore them. It will go away. I’m too busy. I don’t have the money to take care of that. I’m afraid of what I will find out.
I’m not judging. I have said some of these same things. But I also know that in many of these situations, if ignored, something worse can happen.
Let me repeat this statement. There are certain things we can’t ignore.
The children of Israel had this problem. We read repeatedly in the Old Testament of their turning their back on God. They ignored His words but also those of His prophets. In Jeremiah 7:24-26 (The Message) God says,
“But do you think they listened? Not a word of it. They did just what they wanted to do, indulged any and every evil whim and got worse day by day. From the time your ancestors left the land of Egypt until now, I’ve suppled a steady stream of my servants the prophets, but do you think the people listened? Not once. Stubborn as mules and worse than their ancestors.”
There are certain things we can’t ignore.
We aren’t any different. We refuse to listen. We ignore the God who made us.
We can keep trying to ignore the obvious, but as Isaiah 45:23 says,
“As I live and breathe,” God says, “every knee will bow before me, every tongue will tell the truth that I and only I am God.”
