One of my favorite hymns is “Peace, Perfect Peace.” The melody is so soothing and the words beautifully remind us of the peace of God. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibqgZxWa6bM&list=RDibqgZxWa6bM&index=1
Don’t we long for peace? Philippians 4 gives us some verses we need to hide deep within out hearts. Here’s what the Message says in verses 6-7; “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. “
Some of us have become the queens of worry. If we aren’t worried about one thing, we will find something else. If we don’t have anything to worry about in our own life, we start worrying about what’s happening to our neighbor. Worry has never solved any issue. It blocks our ability to think rationally and sometimes completely shuts us down.
God is offering here the prescription from a worry free life. PRAY. Make your requests and concerns known to Him. If you have never prayed, try it. Before you start to worry, stop and talk to God. He’s waiting to hear from you. He is concerned and cares about everything that causes you to be anxious.
I know this to be true. I’ve been there. I fight it everyday. But, I also know the peace that surpasses all understanding. He’s my friend and confidant. He knows what I need before I ask but He wants me to come to Him. Let Him be your Peace.
