Sid and I were able to return to Tennessee and visit his mom and dad. It is always a pleasure to be with Mone and Pappy. We got to enjoy catfish and hush-puppies as well as Mone’s cottage cheese and hamburgers.
Going home is comforting. You feel welcomed and loved. Sometimes you even get a little bit spoiled.
Our earthly homes are great but can you even imagine what going home to our Heavenly Father will be like? I love Isaiah 6 and the description of what Isaiah saw when he entered the throne room, the Lord, high and exalted. He saw the seraphim and heard their song, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” The majesty of it all brings us to our knees.
But, there is another side of God that comforts me. When we go home to heaven I see His arms outstretched saying, “come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Rest and comfort with our Lord. Singing his praises all day long. Now, that’s going home.
