Turn on the nightly news and you see hopelessness. The drug wars, mass shootings, drive by killings, the faces of the refugees all cause one to wonder what the future holds.
Hopelessness is not a new phenomenon. It’s just that we are made more aware of everything around us. Television and social media have inundated us with every aspect of people’s lives. Sometimes it seems that everything is falling a part and we can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.
But, we do have a choice! If you are a believer in Jesus, you can live a hopeful life. Christ is our anchor. Hebrews 6:19 says “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…” Jesus secures us to our God. He gave his life that we would live in hopeful anticipation of seeing him face to face one day. (Hebrews 9:28)
When you awake each morning say to yourself, “Today, I choose hope. I will not live in despair. I will hold to my anchor – Jesus Christ.”
