Surprise Attack

December 7, 1941, is a day that most Americans will not forget. The day that the United States was taken off guard at Pearl Harbor. This was truly a sad day for our nation and the world. Movies and documentaries have investigated the reasons why the Japanese were able to surprise us.

The word surprise can conjure up good and bad thoughts. We love when we get something we weren’t expecting, like a gift or a visit from a friend. But, surprises can have the opposite effect. They can frighten and even sometimes harm us like the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Bible warns us of a more dangerous attack than man can ever do. Our adversary the devil, is lurking around seeing who he can devour. ( 1 Peter 5:8) The message says ” The devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping.” I believe the devil is in overdrive during this present time. He makes his surprise attacks when we are distracted. It’s everywhere, our government, our homes, our jobs, and our churches! We get so bent out of shape that we miss the goal of this life. LOVE God AND LOVE People!

So how do we avoid these surprise attacks? 1 Peter tells us to be self controlled and be alert. Pray for the spirit to lead you every day. Pray for our world and all those around you. Love God and put Him first.
