Thanksgiving

Before I begin day 5 of thanksgiving, I wanted to say how thankful I am to live in a town where people rally around those who are experiencing heartbreak. The passing of Phillip Bowsman has touched so many hearts. Many people who disagree on many things all coming together and celebrating his life and supporting his family.

Can I return to this time when things seemed so much simpler? No, life doesn’t work that way. These three are distinct personalities. How many tears, laughs, and memories we have experienced. I am thankful to them, which may seem odd, but they have taught me more about how my heavenly Father loves me.

Henry Nouwen writes in his book “The Return of the Prodigal Son,” (highly recommend) three ways to a truly compassionate fatherhood: grief, forgiveness, and generosity. Isn’t this what we all seek? To show the love of a parent we must grow to be like our God who loves us in this way. Thank you for showing me how to grow in my love.
