Hold on to God’s Word

One of the most precious memories of my childhood, was sitting at the breakfast table with my grandparents. Sitting around a table eating breakfast together in itself is a lost art but I won’t go on that tangent at this time! What I remember the most, besides the delicious biscuits, was the way my Grandad would caress his Bible. Yes, we had to wait to eat until they finished their devotional. He would flip the page with his long slender fingers and he would read from the word of God. I loved to hear his voice.

I hold on to those memories. But, more importantly they instilled in me a desire to study God’s word.

Paul, when he was instructing Timothy, reminded him of the importance knowing scripture. II Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

I hope you want to be thoroughly equipped! Let me encourage you today to get into a Bible study with your church. If no one has started one, be the person to get it done. Go to a local Bible book store and ask for some ideas. Open the word of God and begin reading. Ask God to prepare your mind to understand what it says or send someone who will guide you.

Hold on to His words and may He breathe into your soul.
