Every so often, I come across words that stop me in my tracks. Because they’re painfully honest. This is one of those pieces.
Glenna Mitchell shares what happened on July 11th, when a head-on collision changed her life in an instant—and took the life of her grandmother, who I actually knew. She lived just across the street from me back when I called Salem home. Reading Glenna’s words, I found myself thinking of her grandmother, of that little stretch of road we shared, and of how tightly woven our lives sometimes are without us even realizing it.
Glenna doesn’t offer easy answers here. She’s honest about the pain, the grief, the “God, why?” questions we don’t always feel brave enough to say out loud. And in the middle of that honesty, she points to something steady, the truth that our circumstances can change without God changing at all.
That’s the heart of Psalm 71, isn’t it? Not a promise that life stays easy, but a promise that He stays present through it. I think you’ll be as moved by this as I was. Grab a cup of coffee and read on.
