Hurry

I have spent a great deal of my life hurrying. Hurry to get to work. Hurry to get to church. Hurry to make the appointment. Hurry and get supper ready. Hurry to wash the clothes. The list goes on.

Living in a hurry can be exhausting. Doing things in a hurry can bring about disaster. But, there are moments and occasions that we need a little “hurry.” Example; if I’ve fallen and can’t get up – I want someone to hurry. If I’ve been in an accident – I hope the EMt’s show up in a hurry. You get the idea. There is good and bad to this idea of hurry.

It made me think of Mary Magdalene on the day she went to Jesus’s tomb. In Matthew 28 we read where Mary Magdalene and Mary have gone to the tomb. They do not see Jesus’ body but an angel of the Lord. He tells them that Christ has risen and has gone ahead of them. He told them to go quickly and tell the disciples.

This is the verse I love, “So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell the disciples.” Matthew 28: 8

This is one of those moments that didn’t need to be wasted! Yes, it was probably hard for the women to wrap their head around the fact that they had just seen an angel. But, then he proceeded to tell them that Jesus had risen from the dead. This was great news. It couldn’t wait. It was of a magnitude that it had to be shared and in a hurry!

As believers we have that same message to share. He’s alive! It’s good news because this message can save a lost world. We have our fears. What will people think. I don’t know what to say. I’ll mess up.

Share with them what God has done for you. Tell them the story of the cross and the resurrection. Ask your minister or elder to help you.

Mary had fear too but that didn’t stop her. She ran. She had good news and we do too.

God bless!
