Far

If you have ever ridden with a child, you probably have heard “How much further?” or “How long will this take?” Can’t you just hear the whine? I really can’t say anything because I know I aggravated my own parents from time to time. Ok, I admit it, I’ve done that recently to my husband or a road trip to Texas.

I like getting to where I’m going in a hurry too. As I get older, though, I’m learning how to enjoy the ride. (Maybe depends on who is driving! No names mentioned here.)

There are many things I might have missed on some of our long trips. I’ve seen beautiful rainbows. Many deer along the way. Beautiful mountains and hillsides. Skylines of places I’ve never been. Beautiful homes. Playing count the cows or count the license plates. Singing songs with the family.

We do the same thing in our spiritual life as well. We want to hurry this life along. How much longer until God comes? How long do I have to put up with this life and its heartache?

This life is a journey.  God wants us to be with Him while I am here.Today and the days ahead don’t ask, “How much further God?” Enjoy the time on the journey. Deepen your relationship with God and with others. Breathe in God’s presence. Isaiah 41:10, reminds us that He will give us strength as He holds us with His mighty right hand.
