God is my Song

Music has often been described as the language of the soul, and there’s no doubt that it can stir up emotions and feelings like nothing else. Have you ever wondered where the source of the song in your heart comes from? As a believer of God, it’s vital that you make HIm the source of the song in your heart.

Moses knew it (Exodus 15:2). David knew it (Psalm 118:14). Isaiah knew it (Isaiah 12:2). And we can too! These are just a few ways to encourage you to do this today.

Begin with gratitude. Take a moment each day to reflect on the blessings you have and then praise God for them. This simple act can help you focus on the goodness of God and bring a sense of peace to your heart. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says to give thanks in all circumstances. Instead of starting each day with your list of things to do, make a list of things you are thankful for.

Another way to make God the source of the song in your heart is to fill your mind and heart with His word. Scripture is full of encouraging and uplifting messages that speak to your heart and your soul. Begin to memorize Bible passages that you love. Attend Bible classes at your church. Start a Bible study in your home. Ephesians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom…”

Prayer is also a powerful way to connect with God. Talk to God honestly about your heart’s desires and let Him guide you with all of His wisdom. As you seek HIs presence, you will find that your heart aligns more and more with HIs will, and that it will come out in the music of your soul.

Finally, surround yourself with positive and uplifting people who also seek God’s presence. Last week I was able to meet with close friends from over 40 years ago. What a precious time to laugh, cry and visit. But, the joy in that was the time of drawing into God’s word together. Fellowship with like-minded believers can help us grow closer to God and help us sing.

In conclusion, making God the source of the song in your heart is an intentional practice that requires a commitment to living a life centered on HIm. By prioritizing gratitude, meditating on HIs word, seeking His presence through prayer, and surrounding yourself with Godly community, you can cultivate a heart that sings with joy and peace, May the music of your soul echo the goodness and grace of our Lord and Savior.
