Today’s writing prompt for Five Minute Writing was Guess.
When I was a child, I loved going to the fair. I loved all the good food, the rides, and seeing all the exhibits. The one thing I remember that I didn’t like was the guy that yelled at you and said he could guess your weight!!! If you have never heard of this or seen this, good for you. There was no way I was going to let anyone guess my weight much less get on the scale for the world to see!
I have moved several times in my life. That is such a change. You must get to know people and they must get to know you. As I got older, I wanted to wear a sign around my neck to give everyone my background, so I didn’t have to keep repeating the same history. I also didn’t want them to guess who I was. I wanted them to know who I was.
I don’t want people to guess my weight or to make a guess at who I am. Isn’t it refreshing to know that God knows everything about us? He doesn’t guess. He doesn’t make assumptions. I love Isaiah 43:1-28. God is talking to the Israelites, but He is also talking to us. We are His children, and he calls us by name. He knows our coming and goings. He knows our strengths and weaknesses. And there is no second guessing who we belong to! What comfort! What joy!!
Beautiful reminders that we are known and loved! Thank you!
