Pursue: Joy in Meeting Together

This past weekend I was honored to speak at a ladies’ retreat held at Country Lake Christian Retreat Center in Underwood, Indiana. The beautiful setting among the trees and alongside a lake provided the perfect backdrop for our time together.

These kinds of days fill my heart to overflowing. Most of the time I get to meet new people. Sometimes, it’s a rekindling of cherished friendships. There is laughter, singing, heartfelt prayers, meaningful conversations, and almost always, delicious food!

But more than anything, it is a sacred time to pursue God. Women willingly give up their Saturdays to spend time in His Word, while also enjoying the blessing of fellowship with one another. It’s remarkable to witness women from different backgrounds coming together with one purpose: to grow in faith.

Let me encourage you to pursue that time with God intentionally. It doesn’t have to be at a formal retreat. It can be alone at your kitchen table with your Bible open. It can be on your patio as the sun rises. You can invite a friend for a cup of coffee and pray together. Today’s technology even allows us to connect through Zoom when distance separates us.

We need each other on this journey of faith. The Christian walk was never meant to be traveled alone. Whether in large gatherings or intimate settings, let’s continue to seek His presence and encourage one another along the way.

What step will you take this week to pursue God and connect with fellow believers?

  1. It sounds like a lovely weekend! I love being surrounded by sisters in Christ who are eager to pursue God. My local CBS community has been helping me feel connected.

  2. Don’t see a lot of folks these days,

    and that’s OK by me.

Each hour’s now a bloody haze

and I’d rather they not see

the awful way I’m looking now

    (I was prettier before!);

    gotta say, it did amaze

me, what came through hell’s door

when demon cancer came to call

    and refused to leave.

it was really quite a fall

    from what I did believe,

that youth and strength would last and last,

not crumble into dust so fast.
