Capacity

Capacity is this week’s topic for the Five Minute Friday Writing Group.

The above pictures were taken this past weekend on a little trip to St. Louis. We were blessed to have two of our grandchildren with us. There was a large crowd but I wouldn’t say a “capacity” crowd. The second one is just lovely! Ha, Ha! It reflects me not being able to sit out in the hot sun after several hours! I don’t have much capacity for that.

The definition of capacity is “the amount that something can contain or produce.”

As I looked around the stadium, it impressed me how in that one tiny area of land there were all these people together. All from different places, having different vocations, different ages, beliefs, and backgrounds but having one thing in common – a baseball game. I knew a few people there but a majority I did not.

Those types of situations always make me think of the capacity that God has to love each and every one of us. He loves us despite our flaws and our weaknesses. He loves the whole world. Not just my little corner. He knows each one of us by name.

God’s capacity to love mankind is more than we can humanly comprehend. But, it gives me hope and sustains me when I feel alone, an outcast, and unloved. If you don’t know the God of the Bible, I hope you’ll search for Him. He can love you unconditionally.

Ephesians 3:18 reads in the NLT, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”
